Update June 25, 2025 8:22 a.m.
According to the BLM, "Fire crews continued steady progress on the Conner Fire yesterday, focusing on mop-up operations, which involve extinguishing any remaining hot spots inside the fireline to prevent re-ignition. Crews worked to secure containment lines and patrolled the fire perimeter to ensure the fire stayed within controlled boundaries, bringing containment to 84 percent."

Update June 23, 2025 3:04 p.m.
The Conner Fire is now 28 percent contained and mapped at 17,714 acres. Crews continue to make progress on the ground and from the air, working to strengthen containment lines and cool hot spots.

Update June 23, 2025 9:11 a.m.
Topaz Lake has now reopened to the public following its temporary closure to support aerial firefighting operations related to the Conner Fire.

While the lake is once again accessible for recreational use, the public is advised that aircraft may still be actively drawing water from the lake. Residents and visitors should remain aware of their surroundings and avoid interfering with any ongoing firefighting operations.

Update June 23, 2025 8:43 a.m.
According to the Bureau of Land Management - Nevada, The fire is 19 percent contained, with most progress on the southwest side near Carter Springs. Crews there are breaking apart heat-retaining peat moss piles.

Dozer lines have been built between Pine Nut Creek and Buckeye Creek to reinforce the northern perimeter. Suppression near Rice Peak is challenged by dense pinyon and juniper. Aerial crews dropped 42,000 gallons of water to support ground efforts.

In Lone Pine Canyon, crews are working in a burned area with unstable, dead trees that risk rolling and spreading fire. Green vegetation remains scattered and could still ignite.

A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) remains in place—no drones or unauthorized aircraft allowed, as they endanger firefighting efforts.

Today’s forecast of mid-70s temps may aid containment. Avoid the fire area and stay updated via official channels.

Update June 21, 2025 10:43 a.m.
Effective immediately, Topaz Lake is closed to all public access to allow for uninterrupted aerial firefighting efforts in response to the Conner Fire.

The closure is being implemented in coordination with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Nevada Department of Wildlife, and the Walker River Irrigation District. The decision follows the deployment of Canadair CL-415 “Super Scooper” aircraft, which will be using the lake as a water source to assist with wildfire suppression.

For public and pilot safety, all recreational activities on and around the lake—including boating, swimming, and shoreline access—are prohibited until further notice. Crews require an unobstructed water surface to conduct repeated scooping operations safely and effectively.
