The Douglas County Public Library in Minden will be participating in NaNoWriMo this November. NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, is a worldwide challenge to write 50,000 words in November. Join us at the Library to get your first draft written!
We will have a Kickoff Party & Plotting session on Wednesday, October 25th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Learn more about NaNoWriMo, meet fellow writers, and enjoy light refreshments. Staff will be present to provide assistance registering on the NaNoWriMo website. There will also be simple brainstorming and plotting exercises to help you get ready for the upcoming month of writing.
We will also have Write-Ins at the Library. The dates and times for those are:
Tuesday, November 7th from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Friday, November 17th from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, November 21st from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 25th from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Thursday, November 30th from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Participants who attend write-ins can work on their stories in the company of other writers and participate in optional activities to increase their word count. Bring your preferred writing materials, but we will have supplies on hand, as well!
Our Finale Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 2nd from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to celebrate our participants’ hard work.
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library.
