3D Pen Art
3D Pen Art

Modern three-dimensional printing technology is being used to manufacture useful and custom objects in industry, medicine, and science. However, this technology can also be used to create beautiful works of art. The Douglas County Public Library hosts a free 3D Pen Art program throughout the year for participants to learn how to draw and create with 3D printing pens.

Dates and times vary. Please refer to our Calendar for future sessions.  Registration is not required. Children are allowed to participate if they are accompanied by an adult.

The library will provide 3D pens, plastic filament, tutorials, and templates.
The 3D Pen Art Program is sponsored by The Friends of the Douglas County Public Library.

Writing Group

Writing Group
Calling all writers 18 years and up! The Minden Library welcomes you to join our Writing Group on the second Saturday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

In this writing group, we will explore different styles of writing and develop our own voices through writing exercises, discussions, and workshops. Supplemental reading will be provided but is not required. Potential topics for discussion include, but are not limited to: world-building, plot twists, point of view, character voice, dialogue, suspense, mystery, mood, narrative structure, imagery, metaphor, genre-bending, creativity, writing practices, revision, publishing, literary magazine submissions, the writer’s life, and anything else that may arise.
The emphasis is on process more than product.
Each meeting will feature approximately 30 minutes of discussion, followed by an optional workshop where you can give and receive feedback on short pieces of writing. If you would rather not share your writing, that’s ok! Join others in free writing, where you can work on your own projects in the company of other authors.
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library.

Resources from our meetings will be linked after the meetings in case you are not able to attend.

Basic Resume and Job Help

Earlier this year, the Zephyr Cove Library received grant funds for a self-service center for printing, scanning, and copying. Funds for this project were provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records.

The self-service center is perfect for remote workers, families who are homeschooling their children, and everyone else who needs to print, scan, or make copies. In addition to the self-service center, the library offers a drop-in session for Basic Resume and Job Help on the third Wednesday of every month from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. through December 20th, 2023.

Starting in January 2024, this service will be available by appointment during the following times:

Tuesdays: 1:30-4:30
Wednesdays: 12:30-6:30
Thursdays: 1:30-4:30
Fridays: 10:00-12:30

Vanna Bells, Library Supervisor, has ten years’ experience assisting people with resumes, job applications, and teaching basic computer skills. If you have any questions, feel free to call the Zephyr Cove Library at 775-588-6411.
