The Minden Library hosts a Knit & Crochet Club for adults of all skill levels. Light refreshments and snacks with an assortment of yarn, needles, and a simple pattern will be provided. Feel free to bring your own supplies and projects!

The Douglas County Public Library hosts the Adult Crafters’ Club on the third Wednesday of every month. Adults looking for a creative outlet are invited to come to the Minden library where we will have a fun arts and crafts project to try.
The program begins at 4:00 p.m. and will end at 6:00 p.m. No reservations are required. Participants can drop by any time between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Please note this program is intended for adults 18+.
The Crafters’ Club is sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library.

Second Wednesday Book Group
Second Wednesday Book Group

The Douglas County Public Library hosts a monthly book group for adults on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. The Second Wednesday Book Group meets from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. in the Minden Library Meeting Room. Participants may also join via Zoom. Titles are a mix of non-fiction and fiction, with at least one classic title selected during the course of the year. The Second Wednesday Book Group is sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library.

October 12th -            Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann

November 9th -          Born a Crime by Trevor Noah

December 14th -        A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

Japanese Club

Come to the Minden Library to learn the language of Japan and practice conversational and writing skills at the beginner level. Previous knowledge of the language is not necessary to participate and all ages are welcome!

The Japanese Club will meet on the second and third Thursday of every month from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.

Learn great tips to not tip the scale whilst celebrating with family and friends this holiday season. This program will be available to attend in person at both library locations, with Zoom capability for the Minden session.

The Minden & Zoom session will be held Saturday, November 19th from 10:30 – 11:45 a.m.

All ages are invited to join our bi-monthly 5e DnD club, which will meet every 2nd and 4th Monday once we have enough members!  Beginners are welcome!  Sign-ups are required.

3D Pen Art
3D Pen Art

The Douglas County Public Library will be holding two 3D Pen Art Programs for adults this winter! Join us in making 3D Pen holiday creations at the Minden Library on Wednesday, December 7th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and at the Zephyr Cove Library on Wednesday, December 14th from 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Registration is not required. Drop in and create fall-themed art!  Children are allowed to participate if they are accompanied by an adult. The library will provide 3D pens, plastic filament, tutorials, and templates. The 3D Pen Art Program is sponsored by The Friends of the Douglas County Public Library.

Ghost Scouts
Ghost Scouts

The Minden Library has introduced this new club that takes place in the Fall for teens and adults interested in paranormal investigations: Ghost Scouts!

While much of the appeal of paranormal investigations lies in the active investigation itself, a rigorous investigation involves developing research skills, a knowledge of local and state history, an understanding of the science behind investigation equipment, and technical and creative writing skills.

The Minden session will be held on Saturday, November 19th from 10:30 – 11:45 a.m.

Nature Coaching

Nature Coaching combines various techniques from the world of life coaching and shinrin-yoku (forest bathing). The aim is to have a greater awareness of the world and others around you, whilst getting the health benefits of being out in nature. A typical session flow:

– Connection to yourself (guided walking meditation from library to location)

– Connection to nature (exercise conducted outdoors)

– Connection to others (connecting with the group on the return walk)

Nature Coaching will be led by Louise Whewell, a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach who also works at the Zephyr Cove Library. This program is limited to 8 people and supplies will be provided, so just bring yourself and an open mind. To reserve your spot or to be added to a waiting list, please email [email protected] or call 775-588-6411. This program takes place outside around the library and will be cancelled if the weather is unsuitable.

The Zephyr Cove Library is happy to host Tuesday Tea Party for adults. Light refreshments will be served as we chat, play games, work on puzzles, and more.
