Storytime

The Douglas County Library hosts Storytime for all ages. Craft kits are also available at the library for pickup. 
Storytime programs are
 seasonal.  Please check the Library Calendar for dates and times, or contact the library for detailed information. 
Young children should be accompanied by an adult. 

Baby Lap-sit

Every Wednesday at 10:30am at the Minden Library, we host a carefully curated storytime for babies including stories, songs, and playtime.  Ages 6-18 months are welcome!

READing Paws®

READing Paws

A READing Paws therapy dog will be available at the Minden Library every Thursday afternoon between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m.

Children of all ages and reading levels are invited to read with a registered therapy dog and the dog’s handler.  Each child will spend 15 minutes with a dog.  Time slots are available on a first come, first served basis.  Parental permission is required, and permission forms are available at the library. 
This program is offered in partnership with READing Paws, a local affiliate of Intermountain Therapy Animals.
Science Club
Science Club

As of September 1st, Science Club will be shifting to a new time! Science Club will only meet on the first Monday of the month from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Minden Library.  Science Club is intended for children in 3rd - 5th grade. Children will participate in hands-on learning and experimentation with lessons focusing on practical lab experiments. All supplies are provided.

Science Club is sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library.

Japanese Club
Japanese Club

Come to the Minden Library to learn the language of Japan and practice conversational and writing skills at the beginner level. Previous knowledge of the language is not necessary to participate and all ages are welcome!

The Japanese Club will meet on the second and third Thursday of every month from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. 

Tween Art
Tween Art Club

The Minden Library hosts a Tween Art Club on the second Friday of every month from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. Tweens age 8-13 can come make artistic creations around each month’s theme. 

The Tween Art Club is sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library.

Pokemon Club
Pokemon Club

Tweens ages 8 to 13 are invited to the Minden Library to play the Pokémon trading card game, do crafts, and talk about all things Pokémon! The club will meet from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of every month. 

VR Lab
VR Lab
Join us to try some Virtual Reality at the Minden Library on Fridays 2-5pm!  Ages 13 and up.  Reservations are required so please call us ahead of time!
Dungeons & Dragons Club
Dungeons and Dragons Club
All ages are invited to join our bi-monthly 5e DnD club, which will meet every 2nd and 4th Monday once we have enough members!  Beginners are welcome!  Sign-ups are required.

Join us on Wednesdays at the Zephyr Cove Library at 11:00 a.m. for Storytime for all ages. Each Storytime will have a craft or activity.

Gingerbread House Decorating
Gingerbread House Decorating

The Zephyr Cove Library is proud to announce that the Gingerbread House Decorating program is back! A family-favorite program, children and their families are welcome to decorate a graham cracker gingerbread house at the library on Friday, December 9th at 3:30 p.m.  Pre-constructed graham cracker houses, frosting, and candy will be provided.  Call 775-588-6411 or email [email protected] to reserve your spot. This Gingerbread House Decorating program is sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Library.
